Tahiya Carioca nicknamed her the "Princess of Raks
Sharki". Dina, before she became a star, used to sneak into
nightclubs just to watch her perform. She has inspired dancers
throughout the globe and impacted the world of belly dance in
an enormous way. She is none other than, MONA EL SAID.
Mona toured the world performing and teaching workshops. She became
very popular in the UK and spent a great amount of time in London.
She currently lives in Cairo and frequently visits the beautiful
beaches along Egypt's coast.
The last time Mona el Said was in the states was seven years ago
for the 1st International Conference of Middle Eastern dance in
California. She came to Texas for the first time to teach two
days of Raks Sharki workshops. Mona has long since given up performing,
however, in a very rare and special performance, Mona el Said made Saturday night's show one to be remembered for a lifetime.
